A government survey has learned that there are about 5,400 Internet cafe refugees sleeping overnight at places like Internet and Manga cafes.
About half of the refugees do not have steady employment.
The largest age group are those in their 20s. (26.5%) Next largest group are those in their 50s.(23.1%)
Each day, about 60,900 people stay overnight at Internet cafes, mostly using computers and other cafe services.
Some 5,400 are homeless. Half of those work but not regularly.
Some 1,300 are looking for work. Another 900 are not searching.
All of Japan’s 3,246 Internet and manga cafes were surveyed.
People who have no job…have no home…also cannot get a job because they have no home.
Maybe…just maybe…many of them are part of the secret group working on the new Internet.
Have you ever spent the night in a cafe?
