Japan to fingerprint, photograph foreigners as anti-terror measure
Japan hopes to thwart potential terrorists from entering the country by fingerprinting and photographing all foreigners aged 16 or over on entry starting next month, an official said Friday.
Only some permanent residents, diplomatic visitors, and children under 16 will be exempt from the measures after the system goes into effect Nov. 20, Immigration Bureau official Takumi Sato said.
Under the new system, all adults will be photographed and fingerprinted on arrival in Japan. Incoming aircraft and ship operators also will be obliged to provide passenger and crew lists before they arrive. (more…)
Wearable computer
Portable computing starts with a bash at Jinan, China. Students of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China have come up with a portable computer. The computer consists of a near-eye display, head-mounted camera, one-hand keyboard and mouse, the wearable computer weighs less than 1.5 kilograms. (more…)

Ramana levitates outside White House
People snapped pictures and stared as a man “levitated” in front of the White House on Monday. Dutch magician Wouter Bijdendijk, also known as Ramana, said he couldn’t say much about his magic trick.
“This is an art,” he said. “And in India, they see it also as a science. I hope I make people wonder.” “I just wanted to show that reality is not all that you think that it is,” Bijdendijk said.

World’s smallest RC helicopter

Japan’s toy giant Tomy employee Maiko Murayama displays the world’s smallest radio controlled toy helicopter “Heli-Q”, which can make a five minute flight with a 20-minute charge of its lithium-ion battery on October 23, 2007 in Tokyo, Japan. Tomy will put it on the market next month.
